The Kumasi-born beauty who has often spoken about her relatively “difficult” childhood said she stumbled into acting after she answered an audition call on the radio by Miracle Films.

McBrown did not make it at the audition although she got hired to help do costuming instead. As fate will have it, the bubbly beauty got her chance to act the lead role for that same production.

The movie, Nsem pii, brought her into the limelight and got her career started a great deal as she worked her way up to stardom.

But Nana Ama said on the TV talk show Restorations with Stacy, her current celebrity status did not come easy.

Recounting the circumstances surrounding her 2014 motor accident to the host, she said she had been through many other near-death experiences in the past.

“From day one that I started my work, acting, people think they see you on TV and it’s beautiful. No doubt, it is very beautiful. But the attacks that you get, you have no idea of.

“I’ve been poisoned on set twice. I’ve been admitted in, we call it G. Komfo Anokye for two weeks without food. I went home with about forty drips or forty-five. Injections, I can’t count. So you know Akua, my soul 'dieerrr' not even my mother [has a hold of it]. It is for God,” she said.

Nana Ama who was very close friends with late actress Suzzy Williams, has carved a niche for herself in the Twi language movies and has built a strong and loyal following.

Known for her ‘explosive’ personality, the talented Kumawood screen Princess has also excelled in roles in English language movies.
