Ghanaian mental health advocate and entrepreneur, Nana Abena Korkor Addo, has said people trolled her on social media during her manic episodes out of ignorance.
The young UCC graduate suffered two episodes of bipolar disorder and took to social media to make some controversial revelations including sexual encounters with celebrities.
According to her, a lot of Ghanaians are not well briefed about such disorders hence she took advantage of her situation to educate them about it.
Speaking on The Late Afternoon Show with Berla Mundi, Korkor bemoaned the growing rate of stigmatization against mental health patients. She, however, mentioned how supportive her dean of students, comrades and friends were during her trying moments.
Lency, as she is popularly called, also narrated her first experience with Bipolar Disorder and how she boarded a bus at dawn from Cape Coast to Accra with no money on her.
She is currently the head of Psychosocial Africa, a mental health advocacy group aimed at championing anti-stigmatization among mental health patients and providing help and counseling for such people.
The Late Afternoon Show airs on GhOne TV and DSTV Ch 361 every Monday and Friday at 4pm with a repeat at 10pm, same days.
