I will support John Dumelo for parliament, Maa Lydia was ungrateful to me - Prince David Osei

Ghanaian actor and staunch supporter of the New Patriotic Party, Prince David Osei, has publicly declared his support for his colleague, John Dumelo, in his bid for the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat.

In an interview with GhOne TV on August 23, 2024, Prince David Osei gave his reasons for backing Dumelo, who is contesting on the ticket of the 'rival' NDC party.

Buttressing his point, the actor said he felt disrespected by the NPP parliamentary candidate Lydia Seyram Alhassan, citing ungratefulness despite his previous support for her.

"I don't care about the candidate there… We stood on a platform and campaigned for the woman the last time. And she was ungrateful. So even though I'm a full-blooded NPP and I speak to power, I will support John,” he stated.

Prince David Osei clarified that his support for Dumelo isn't only for the fact that they are friends but because he genuinely believes he is a better candidate and that he would represent the creative arts industry better.

"It's not because John is my friend. Because I believe that John is a better candidate. That's my opinion. He's one of the creative guys. And I would love to see John in parliament," he added.

While Prince David Osei remains a supporter of Dr. Bawumia for the presidency and other NPP MPs, he is firm in his decision to back Dumelo for the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat.

“We were told to rally behind Dr. Bawumia and the other NPP candidates. But for me, I'm not rallying behind that woman.

"My dream is for John to win the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency seat. That doesn't mean I'm NDC. I'm still for Dr. Bawumia for the presidency and for other NPP MPs to go to parliament. But I'm throwing my weight behind my friend," he concluded.
