Ghana’s opposition leader Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given Ghanaian duo Reggie ‘N’ Bollie a morale booster ahead of their performance in tonight’s X Factor show.

The former Attorney General who is currently in the UK on a working visit said he is proud of the pair because they are showcasing the Ghanaian talent on the international stage.

“I just spoke to Reggie 'N' Bollie. I wished them well in tonight's ?#?XFactor? show, and I hope they go all the way to the grande finale,” Nana Addo said in a Facebook post.

“Ghana is, indeed, proud of their exploits, in their showcasing of Ghanaian talent on the international stage. Godspeed and good luck to them.”

Meanwhile, Reggie has disclosed in an interview with the Mirror that he has been battling depression.

“I felt lost and couldn’t find a way out. Unless you have been through depression you don’t know how it feels. It is torturing your mind,” he said about the crippling mental illness.

The Ghanaian-born singer, 31, who now lives in London, hit rock bottom when he was laid off from his job as a credit collector last year.

He recalls a bleak moment when he thought like giving up and was unable to raise a smile for his three young children.

He said: “People always saw me as happy and nice. I was losing that.

"My kids would come to me and I’d just be sat in the bedroom, feeling awful.”

But with therapy, self-help books and the support of wife Edith Ward, 30, Reggie has turned his life around.

He revealed he hadn’t told show mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini , 32, about his problems.

“I didn’t want her to deal with me out of pity. She has believed in us and been absolutely amazing.”

If Reggie ’N’ Bollie do win the ITV show he plans to donate his prize money to a mental health charity.

Reggie said he owes his turnaround to TalkPlus, an organisation his doctor had sug¬¬gested Reggie talk to.

He continued: “They were just incredible.”
