Ghanaian dancehall musician Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, popularly known in showbiz as MzVee, has said she will not be surprised if she gets a Grammy for her hard work.

The Grammy award is an honour awarded by The Recording Academy to recognise outstanding achievement in the mainly English-language music industry.

The 2016 BET Award nominee, speaking on Entertainment Capital on Accra100.5FM on Saturday July 30, said she was not surprised she was nominated for the international award because she worked hard and would not be surprised to get a Grammy.

“I will be honest, I am not trying to be arrogant or anything but because of who I am, I always expect something good to happen to me because I put my 100 per cent in anything that I do. Because I love it and if I have been nominated for BET before, and I have been the first female to be nominated for Artiste of the Year before, I don’t know why I can’t get another BET nomination and can’t win it even, so I am that kind of person, I have a positive mind, I have positive people around me, I work really hard. So, if I should get a Grammy today, I won’t be surprised,” she told show host DJ Premier.

According to the Natural Girl hit maker, she was treated like a queen during her stay in the US for the BET awards.

“From the minute I got there to the day I left, I was treated like a queen. They made sure everything was on point for me. I was chauffeur-driven everywhere, they made sure they were always checking up on me and we all slept in the same hotel from the president of the BET to the last person working for BET. So, at breakfast, you would meet everybody, most of the nominees, so I met people and made meaningful contacts,” she added.

MzVee is out with her latest single titled, ‘Make I Shine’, featuring EL.
