Aspiring member of Parliament for Mfansteman constituency in the central region, Gilbert Aggrey also known as Abeiku Santana, who has thus far remained silent over whether he will be resigning his job as a broadcaster on Okay Fm or not, has told Razz Newspaper reporter Mustapha Inusah that, he’s not going to quit radio forever.
In an interactions with him, he stated that should he get the opportunity or nod to be in parliament, he will serve the people in his constituency and will not quit the media job or resign even if he’s sacked he will not stop.
“I will represent the people of my constituency in parliament, but any opportunity that I will get to be on the radio, I will, ” he said.
The ace broadcaster explained that although he will need more time to work in his constituency which might take him out of active broadcasting, even if his busy schedules doesn’t allow him to host the “Drive show” he can pay attention on after the drive, weekend programs or evening programs.
According to him, he doesn’t think there’s any law in parliament that states that parliamentarians shouldn’t have other business because there are lots of MPs who have other businesses and work as well.
Speaking about some of the negative effects it will have on his show, he hinted that, “Drive shows ” are not political shows and that, he will not be using any show of his for any political agenda.
“I am one person in two different characters when it comes to politics, I do different things, and when it comes to radio I do different things, if you want us to do proper politics, meet me on the grounds, not on radio, ” he said.
Mr Santana continued that, “I will not use the platform to do politics because it’s a commercial radio and a social entertainment platform, but if there’s an issue which is of a partisan nature, we talk about it without taking stands.”
He added “no matter how much you try to be distinctive, people will criticize and state their opinions. I don’t really care much about what people will say because everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, but at the end of the day, we leave it to the judgment of the people.”
