ICT quiz competition for JSS held in Kumasi

Kumasi, Dec 4, GNA - Elden Software Incorporated, a computer company in collaboration with the Kumasi Metropolitan Education Directorate, at the weekend organized a computer quiz competition for some junior secondary schools in the metropolis. Twelve schools were quizzed on general knowledge in ICT, objective tests, computer practicals and identification of computer parts and accessories. Mr Dennis Antwi, the Chief Executive Officer of Elden Software Incorporated, said the mission of the company was to identify, design and manage high quality ICT strategies for schools. It is also to prepare and train pupils, allow them to fully utilize information communications technology to its fullest potential in the educational environment.

It is also to prepare and train pupils, allow them to fully utilize information communications technology to its fullest potential in the educational environment. Mr Antwi said there was the need to take away the phobia for ICT among Ghanaians and to inculcate the knowledge in the children from their infancy in order to arm them for the future. He said the competition, which was sponsored by the Otumfuo Education Fund, Millennium Computers, Ghana Book Trust, Afram Books and Snappy Nuts, would be extended to the senior secondary level. Mr Collins K. Adusei, Senior Registrar of the Kumasi Traditional Council and a representative of the Otumfuo Education Fund, commended the group for contributing to the development of the country. The first two schools, Saint Leo International and Saint Cyprian's Anglican JSS, were presented with computers, computer related books and souvenirs.
