The Institute for Music and Development (IMD) has compiled a promotional music Cd comprising music by ten prominent Ghanaian musicians for world-wide distribution titled Ghana Soundsplash 2005.
With seventeen songs, the well packaged CD with a beautiful jacket has a brief profile on each of the musicians who have been featured.
The seventeen popular songs selected are Womba and Maamya Yele by Atongo Szimba; Dede, Wogbe and Lolo Juju by Amandzeba; Aduu Sumoo Akwadu by Lucky Mensah and Rex Omar with Ajala, Jekajo and Play.
Others are M?ami Abere by Kwaadee, Yesu Ye Owura by Naana Frimpong; Amirika by Kojo Antwi; Madwedwe, Anadwofayi and Ghana National Anthem; Mempa Aba by Charles Amoah and Mawu Nye, Dzifo Safie and Lets Remember by the Vision Band.
In a forward by the French Ambassador to Ghana, Pierre Jacquemot, on the sleeve of the album, he state that as Ghanaian music continues to flourish, Ghana is particularly known in the outside world and in Africa as the birthplace of highlife music.
?Ghana Soundsplash is a compilation that testifies to the rich and amazing diversity of the contemporary music creation of Ghanaian musicians,? he added.
According to the Ambassador, by participating in the project, the French Embassy in Accra hopes to contribute to the blossoming of the music industry in the country.
He stated further that the CD?s will be distributed at no cost to producers, record labels, radio stations, institutions, festivals and others in France and other parts of the world as a way of promoting Ghanaian music on the international scene.
?We thank the IMD for the remarkable co-ordination of the project and all the artistes who have shown enthusiam in this venture.
The compilation was produced for release by Kodjo Aquai and the IMD with assistance from Komla Amoako, Korkor Amarteifio, Prof Mark Duodu and Francis Mensah-Twum.
