The brother of President John Dramani Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama was expected to be honoured at the 2016 Musicians Union of Ghana – MUSIGA Grand Ball but unfortunately, it was not realized.

Ibrahim Mahama, CEO of Engineers and Planners was one of the four personalities to be given the Music Pillar Award for his contribution to the Grand Ball since its inception.

“Ibrahim Mahama has been supportive to the Grand Ball since we started. Last year when we were auctioning Nana Ampadu’s guitar, he bought it for GHC 50,000,” www.abrantepa.com quoted President of MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kufour (Obour) to have said a day before the event.

However, while Obour was giving his speech on the night, he stated that the award would be given to three personalities namely, Edward Boateng, CEO of Global Media Alliance; Betty Mould-Iddrissu former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, and Kasapreko Company Ltd.

It is unclear why Ibrahim Mahama was not honoured.

The MUSIGA Grand Ball is an annual event which brings together industry players, state officials and prominent people on a night networking amidst entertainment.

This year’s edition held at the Banquet Hall saw personalities from corporate entities, stakeholders of the industry and other dignitaries present. It was under the distinguished patronage of President John Dramani Mahama and former President John Agyekum Kufuor but unfortunately, both could not make it.

Instruments of some veteran musicians were auctioned to raise money for the Ageing Musician Welfare Fund.

The event hosted by Multimedia’s Nhyira Addo and actress, Joselyn Dumas saw thrilling performances from Wiyaala, DKB, Kofi Kinaata, Tagoe Sisters among others.
