Incompetent VGMA graphic designer must be sacked

The annual Charterhouse organized Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is no doubt the biggest awards scheme in the country and perhaps, the most insanely controversial and most talked about awards.

Maybe it lives on the controversy as there have been countless of such including Screwface’s 2007 bribery allegations in 2016, Kwesi Pee, No Tribe threatening VGMA in 2015 over the promised Katanka Car among others.

The 2018 VGMAs nominees lists which were released over the weekend has been the talk of town for numerous reasons ;- musicians like Strongman, Jupitar and co complaining about who and which songs should be nominated. However, at a point i ask myself could it be someone within the board or the entire organizers ain’t doing their rightful jobs well.

One thing that got my attention has to do with the graphic designs for this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. As a matter of fact the entire board and the organizers must bow their heads in shame! How can you offer credit to a tune which was not written by that individual? A reasonable case is Kofi Kinaata and the Willis Beats issue for songwriter of the year. This can’t be an issue of grammatical error or oversight. Surely someone must be fired for not doing his/her work well.

Charter House isn’t in its early stages of organizing this award. For a matter of fact, this award has been organized for over a decade now! At least certain small issues shouldn’t give room to question the credibility of the organizers. There were countless spelling mistakes and error of omissions. Is it that the board and it’s organizers are incompetent or what?

These same organizers and it’s 2016 board made a big mistake by nominating TeePlow’s 2014 hit song, ‘ The Warning’ for the 2016 VGMA, when the year under review was 2015 and not 2014 thereby revoking 3 out of his 4 nominations. Honestly such oversights, omissions and errors shouldn’t be made on our renowned honors.

On the other hand we are celebrating indigenous Ghanaian music so what is United States’ Statue of Liberty doing on the flyer for our music awards. Or now we have The Statue of Liberty as the new sponsor for the VGMAs? Not exclusively does it have the Statue of Liberty, you can likewise observe The London Bridge and the 1889 constructed Eiffel tower on the design which has also got me thinking and asking myself is it that i am not getting the graphic designer right or he has actually done the wrong thing or maybe he’s incompetent and just putting images together to please his eyes.

We have the 1957 opened Adomi Bridge, the 1965 opened Akosombo Damn, the 1421 constructed Larabanga Mosque among others that could have been highlighted on the flyers to sell the country to the other parts of the globe and no one among the organizers noticed all these flaws.

And let the entertainment review shows on radio and TV starts talking about this and ‘the faint line between PR and Propaganda will quickly be blurred without Charter House or many of its stooges ever admitting that the VGMA’s competent board is not all that competent after all.’

In conclusion when it comes to the spelling mistakes and other mistakes of which the VGMA has been doing in the past, i think the entire board must bow in shame and the board must be dissolved or who ever oversees VGMA stuff that comes out must be sacked!
