The organizers of the annual Ghana Music awards, Charter House has released the voting results of the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music awards last Sunday 29th May 2016, in an attempt to silence pundits and fans who have issues with transparency with the scheme.

Although some musicians and industry players called for the release of the results, others also think it is not necessary to release the results weeks after the event. Below is the opinion of some musicians and industry players:

KOFI KINAATA: Since people doubt the credibility of the award scheme and its results, I personally think it is good they have released the results for the general public to know. Seeing is believes, so I think they have done what is right.

DR. RAY: It is not necessary to bring this out because it will make other artistes who didn’t get much vote feel disappointed. I think since the award is over let’s work hard and focus on the years ahead. Also, when the result comes out, people won’t be happy and may even say the result is fake or fabricated.

KESSE: Bringing the results out is not a bad idea but I believe it should be released on the night of the event and not weeks after. If it will be released weeks after, people will still doubt the authenticity of the figures.

KARL GIDIGLO (BUSINESS AND EVENTS MANAGER OF BHIMNATION MUSIC GROUP): From my personal point of view, I would like to Congratulate Charter House for their efforts in bringing the results out, as for the winners of awards we already know. It could have made more meaning if we see the result of each scoring category as in the 30% 30% and 40% so each nominee can know where he didn’t perform. With that we can properly assess our efforts in each category of scoring. Upon request, if it can be made available then my issue is solved.

DONZY: I am cool with it. They did that to protect their reputation not mine, so if they decide to bring the results out, why not.

KOJO PREKO DANKWA(RADIO PRESENTER,KASAPA FM 102.5): Charter house for me has shown us that we cannot trust them when it comes to awarding musicians (music) a brand they claim they are building. When was the last time after how many years did they show percentages, figures and how people voted? I believe that showing us these percentages and figures won’t change anything; the worse of it is that they have gone even contrary to their own rules and regulations. If they wanted to show us figures and voting pattern, why didn’t they add it to the rules and regulations?

I wish they rather use only academy, board to deal with artists of the year and with that we can’t say anything because it will be seen as technical rather than adding we the public and knowing very well that Charter house knows what they are looking for. Who even did the calculation, what basis, if the public doesn’t matter please stop it and go technical. Oscars and BET, many are technically inclined.

STAY JAY: Since the award is over, there is no need to bring out the results or anything.

The voting results released showed that EL who was adjudged Artiste of the year, had 36.26% while Bisa K Dei Obtained 30.54%, Stonebwoy had 23.38 with Sarkodie managed 23.38%, SP Kofi Sarpong got 1.10% and VVIP had 1.05%
