Shasha Marley and Isaac Hayes @ Golden Era Studios |
He comes on stage in a hood over a matching cassock and a sash. Described as the MONK ON THE LOOSE, he lets his captivating voice in addition to good stage show. Ingenuity and sheer prowess characterize his performances. SHASHA tore the house down during the Miss Universe (Ghana) beauty pageant show organized by Essence International. SHASHA has won several awards to his credits. When Isaac Hayes heard his music he said "This brother is pure talent, he and I are going to do great things together." And they have.
Growing up, SHASHA was inspired by such great as Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, the Commodores, Fela Ransom Kuti and many others. It was not until Isaac Hayes was adopted into the Ocansey Royal Family of Ada, Ghana and made a King, by the name Nene Katey Ocansey I, that Shasha started to listen to the music of the King of Soul. Shasha also started working with Princess Asie Ocansey of Ada, who introduced Isaac to the Royal Family. At the commissioning of Isaac Hayes Foundation, she encouraged Shasha to produce a song she wrote called: SAVE A MILLION LIVES. The Princess introduced Isaac and Shasha and a formidable collaboration was born.
He also led 15 top Ghanaian artists in a song called STOP AIDS, LOVE LIFE which was sponsored by the JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY as a benefit for AIDS in Africa. SAVE A MILLION LIVES is his global outreach music to make the urgent call with Isaac Hayes and Princess Ocansey globally.
SHASHA'S stage monk-like outfit is credited to the Catholic Franciscan Friars. He finds the life of Saint Francis if Assisi very interesting, although very wealthy, he fought for the cause of the poor. Perhaps, there has been an unspoken link between Black Moses and this Monk. In Africa, Isaac has also built a school in partnership with Princess Asie Ocansey, NEKO TECH, to fight for the poor.
As these two are both passionate about fighting AIDS worldwide, especially in Africa, we can rest assured that their music will help Save a Million Lives!
