Co-host of This Morning, Patrice Amegashie has stated without fear that it is ‘foolish to support” a political party.

Patrice, who has grown into a pivotal figure in the media landscape since his This Morning debut, also revealed that he doesn’t support any political party, debunking rumors that he leans towards the ruling National Democratic Congress.

According to him, “There are miscreants in all the political parties, so if I were a supporter of one and somebody misbehaved, what am i going to do? Am I going to defend the person or be behind the person? I cannot! So, what I do is that I vote based on policies.”

Meanwhile, when asked about the chances of the National Democratic Party candidate, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings in the upcoming elections, he stated that her participation will not affect the outcome of the polls but rather with an expectation that various parties will snatch votes from one another.

“Every party in the election will cost a certain political party to lose some votes, but I don’t think the impact is going to be heavy. I don’t think the party (NDP) can pull the votes seriously. Whether it is going to affect the elections or not, you know people have minds of their own and the fact that the flagbearer says ‘A’ does not mean they will do exactly that.”

He further stated that Nana Konadu’s position as former First Lady and wife of the founder of the ruling NDC party will in no way attract sympathy votes from Ghanaians: “Frankly, I don’t know who will sympathise with her or not, but all I can say in the affirmative is that she won’t pull votes from other parties.”

Nana Konadu, who formed the NDP in 2012 after leaving the ruling NDC will contest the elections with hopes of victory against the NDC, NPP, PPP, CPP, PNC and Independent candidate, Jacob Osei Yeboah.

Last month, her case was thrown out by the High Court after she sued the Electoral Commission for wrongful disqualification.

According to the ruling delivered by Justice George K. Koomson, the decision was due to a wrong procedure used by Nana Konadu hence making the case “incompetent.”

Nonetheless she was reinstated after the Supreme Court prayed the EC to grant the 13 disqualified aspirants some time to correct errors in filing.

Patrice added that he has not decided on who to vote for, but that decision will be made on Election Day.
