With sixteen years of experience in music, Okyeame Kwame has had enough evidence to prove his fans’ appraisal of being the Best Rapper Alive in Ghana. With Intriguing content, Flow, Delivery, and Style; he manipulates creativity.

Not just a matter of being able to sing, rap, somehow dance, and act during the Versatile Show which once again comes off on the 8th of November 2014 at the National Theatre, Okyeame Kwame is versatile in everything creative.

He has released a new single with Congolese singer Lelo which has received several commendations especially with regards to lyrical content, rap and beat construction. Ben Kusilin, sound engineer of Okyeame Kwame’s Studios produced this piece titled “It’s Your Time”, and this song encourages listeners to appreciate wealth and also recognize the troubles and the stress that people go through daily.

The track scores a big point for the Rap Doctor as a well-focused songwriter. He cites instances using Ghana Black Stars’ captain Asamoah Gyan and Lelo who does his in French citing Samuel Eto. They touch on moments of discouragement and how to rally around and claim glory.

For his rap, one can appreciate not only its content but rhythm and delivery. Rap Docter delivers sixteen bars of never-heard-before rap accompanied by live Dondo playing in unison. He uses the chopper style rap delivery (twisting) and explaining his intention for this style, he reveals his first step was to have gone to the Art Centre, recorded the sound of dondo being played by a group of performers and then fixed his lyrics on the rhythm as another way of being creative.

Okyeame Kwame once again did his usual poetry touching on metaphors, personification, similes, and onomatopoeia. This stands to show why his lyrics are studied in universities in Ghana.

It’s Your Time, with respect to beat construction, provides the right grooves for those who like to dance. Placing adowa rhythms on top of crisp guitar licks and tight percussion, Kusilin makes it almost impossible for listeners to stand still. The beat is a harmony of highlife and Afro pop and Ben admits it took six months to finalize the production of this piece because they wanted to bring out the best quality. Apart from the kick, hihat, and snare, all other instruments were played live.

Okyeame Kwame has always found ways to stay ahead or at least, keep abreast with prevailing momentum in the music business, opines an experienced Ghanaian writer, Kouame Koulibaly.

Musical Positivity expressed diligently. It’s not only Okyeame Kwame’s Time. It’s Your Time too, once you are ready to RISE, STAND, WALK, RUN and FLY before you DANCE.
