Ghanaian Multi award winning Hollywood Actor Abraham has called for a collaboration of the Ghanaian and Italian movie industry.

According to the Marcello Mastroianni Award Winner, his visit to Venice, Italy for the Marcello Mastroianni Awards was an eye opener and has ever since believed both Ghana and Italy have a lot of successful rich culture and tradition which both countries can collaborate and showcase them through the powerful tool of movies.

"Though l didn't spend a lot of time in Italy during the Awards, what l saw and experienced made me believe Italy and Ghana have great heritages. I think if these two countries can collaborate to showcase them through movies, both countries will go far in the world of movies and also help enhance the tourism and cultural industries respectively", said Abraham Attah.

Abraham Attah who also won the Best Male Lead Award at the Independent Spirit Awards made this known when he paid a courtesy call to the Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Laura Carpini at her residence on Tuesday, 26th April 2016.

According to the Ambassador, she believes the call for such collaboration will help educate and enhance the knowledge of many people in both countries.

Again she believes this call will always bring in some foreign exchange to both countries and continue to enhance the Italy - Ghana relation.

The Ambassador also briefed the Actor and his team on some of the facilities the Embassy facilitates to Ghanaians. Such include scholarships and exchange programs for Ghanaian students as well as internships.

The Multi Award winning Hollywood Child Actor showed his appreciation for the support from the Embassy during the period he had to travel to Italy though he wasn't in the country at that moment.

Present at the meeting was a Ghanaian/Italian movie director Fred Kuuornu who is currently in the country to screen his documentary on Tuesday 3rd May 2016 at the Airport Residence of the Ambassador. His documentary focuses on the transition of the Italian Movie Industry.

Answering a question from Abraham Attah when he enquired if he had plans of expanding his works to Ghana and Africa as whole, Fred said he believes that even with the success stories of their industry in recent times, it is mostly easy to get African acts to feature in foreign movies than bringing the industry here.

He continues to say, he believes the collaboration of Italy and Ghana on the movie platform will go a long way to benefit both countries.

Abraham Attah strongly believes his opportunity of getting into Hollywood will help develop the Ghanaian Movies Industry and also give others the opportunity to get into Hollywood either directly or indirectly.

According to him, he wishes to see more exchange programs and investments in the Ghanaian Movie landscape from the international film world.
