Iwan goes berserk at Salafest over alleged sabotage

Reggae/ dancehall act, Iwan, is said to have caused some sort of scene when outburst of anger got the musician to act violently and got rushed off stage once he got on it.

The Salah festival took place Wednesday at Fadama and was organized by Solid Multimedia, the entertainment house known to be the behind the entertainment show 30MINS on Viasat1 TV.

According to a member of the team, Ezekiel Tetteh, everything went great in totality but the programme had couple of hitches because of “too high” electricity voltage. He said, the technicians warned of possible cuts because of this and unfortunately it did happen.

He continued by explaining Iwan’s issue as an “unfortunate occurrence, which he believes Iwan acted out of frustration”. “Other artists had cuts during their performances; Samini and Edem are two of the people besides Iwan, who encountered this technical hitch and they both improvised with freestyles and engaged the crowd until everything came back on- he said while being interviewed on AM PLUZZ.

“It is just unfortunate that Iwan acted that way when similar situation happened during his set and yelled ‘they trynna sabotage me!’ He then approached the DJ’s area of work and tried to pull down a turn-table or something of that sort, so he was rushed off stage by security”, he added. He ended by saying Iwan is still a brother of the organizing team and they will try to work it out.

However, when Iwan was interviewed during the course of the show, he made it clear that Edem’s set and everyone’s before his was fine without any setback. He explained that he had been at the event for several hours and he felt as if the organizers were not going to allow him perform. The delay of Iwan was confirmed by a reporter of the AM Pluzz show, called Afoko. He said Iwan had complained to him when he spotted him and tried to say hello. Afoko says even after he spoke to Iwan, it took close to 2hours until Iwan got on stage.

According to Iwan, this was sabotage because when he got there, he was shown the schedule of the show and he was supposed to perform before Samini, but at one point, after all the delay, the presenter introduced Samini, so he was pissed and got on stage. “Once I got on stage, the mic went off, the sound, everything. So I was thinking, is this a planned thing? I approached the DJ to ask what’s going on and one thing led to another, I hit something. The funny thing is, after I got off stage, the sound was perfect again”- he told Sammi Flex on the AM Pluzz show.

Iwan believes this was sabotage because he has seen these “little little” sabotages in his career to notice that this is sabotage. After he was prompted by Sami Flex that a turntable was spoilt as a result of his actions, he said will contact the organizers and try to solve the spoilt turn-table issue.
