Although the rate at which Twi movies come out each day is very high, many people have been complaining about its quality, bad directing and sometimes even the subtitles.
In an interview with one of the producers in Kumasi who has directed 30 movies and produced five movies, he lamented that it is indeed true that most of the Twi movies are being produced in Kumasi. “But there are also a lot of Twi film producers in Accra, but anytime something goes wrong with a Twi movie, the Accra film Producers will be pointing figures at us” he added.
He continued that most of the bad Twi movies which have bad subtitles, bad directing are films made in Accra but not Kumasi because he believes that the Kumasi film producers take the Twi movies serious and always come out with the best products.
Touching on the issue of bad directing and bad subtitling, he said that he does not believe that the subtitles play a major role in film making because even in English language, we all have a different way of speaking and writing it in the world.
“There are a whole lot of movies coming from U.SA, Nigeria, India, China, America and so on which do not have good subtitles but yet people are able to understand the movie and like it .
About the bad directing, I don't think the Twi producers are the only people facing this problem. The only advice I have for my fellow film directors is that we should always try to learn ahead because although I am now directing movies, I still have experienced people that I learn from anytime am facing difficulties“
The Chief Executive Officer of J.A films who is known in real life as Jones Agyemang said that he has his dreams and aspiration in life and he will not look at the way people criticize Twi movies. He was strong on the point that he will not do any thing English because he believes this is the best was to project the culture of our country.
He is now coming up with a new movie called Okristoni which talks about church goers, and a pastor whose daughter became pregnant whiles the pastor refuses to bless the marriage because the daughter was pregnant with a notorious armed robber.
