Before November 2018, J Derobie, did not know his song, “Poverty”, will be the number one trending song in Ghana, but dreams do come to pass.
CEO of EIB Network, Bola Ray has revealed to GhKasa.com that, American singer and CEO of Konvict Muzik, Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam aka Akon called to ask more about the young talented act called J Derobie.
In the revelation, the host of StarrChat on Star FM mentioned he is in talks with management of J Derobie to decide on the steps to take.
“I have a big announcement and it’s exciting for J Derobie. He is the artiste I received a call from Akon himself and he asked more about J Derobie and mentioned he had interest in signing him.”
“So let us pray by September something good come out of it” he added.
In November 2018, Nigerian musician and originator of “Banku Music”, Mr Eazi, announced “EMPAWA 100” initiative in search of brilliant and talented underground acts.
He through “EMPAWA Africa”, was to fund music videos by talented musicians to a tune of $3000 each.
J Derobie was amongst the many talented acts across Africa who took part in the challenge across social media.
His song “Poverty” was picked and the video has since been shot as promised.
The video was released on 11th January and has already garnered over 100,000 views on YouTube.
“EMPAWA Africa is set to release the final top 10, out of the 100 selected acts in February.
J Derobie has just secured his spot in the industry and we cannot wait to see what he does with this great opportunity.
