J-Town honours Amakye Dede

Ghanaian multitalented musician J-Town has dedicated his new song to Ghanaian highlife legend Amakye Dede.

The song titled ‘Amakye Dede’ is meant to give reverence to the highlife maestro Amakye Dede for his contribution and dedication to the music industry in Ghana.

“The song pays homage to Amakye Dede. He sang classic songs that people still relate and dance to and I’m doing the same thing showing that I am a serious musician. Because he—Amakye Dede—showed that he can make classics, I’m following in his footsteps to make classic music. That is why I titled the song after him,” J-Town told NEWS-ONE.

According J-Town who is known in real life as Stephen Menson, Amakye Dede’s popular phrase ‘serious’ in his songs makes Ghanaians go crazy when they hear the classic songs.

J-Town featured Edem and Screech on the ‘Amakye Dede’ single which was released online on Tuesday. Screech is the latest addition to J-Town’s H.O.O.D. record label.

“I put together Edem and Screech, my artistes who is signed to my label on that song. I felt that the three of us on the song would make it classic so I wanted to combine highlife and hip-pop. Basically, we want our fans to know that the three of us together, we are serious.”

“If you listen to the song, you will realize that the two of us have done certain things in our careers to be here and we are very serious artistes. No matter what you do, you cannot take us a joke that is one of the reasons we are paying homage to Amakye Dede who said serious in his songs and made them classic. We trying to make this a classic hip-pop song,” J-Town stated.

The sensational rapper and singer is one of the few Ghanaians who have actually recognized and appreciated the works of music legends in Ghana.
