Come April 30, 2016, James Town popularly referred to as British Accra, will host talented and creative young local people showcasing their works of the creative community to those within and outside James Town.

James Town Arts Festival is an annual event produced by Act for Change a non-governmental organization initiated and sustained by the young people of the 'deprived' community of James Town.

The Festival will be an opportunity for James Town's thriving young and creative community to showcase their good works and grow the reputation of James Town as a centre for Arts and Creativity in Accra, Ghana and indeed across West Africa.

The festival core aim is to create a platform for James Town artists to engage a broad audience from across Accra and Ghana’s international community, highlighting the creativity and vitality of our community.

Inspire local youth to engage with creative industries as a new avenue of employment.

Over 5 years of addressing social issues in James Town through advocacy and community empowerment, Act for Change has become keenly aware of the challenges posed by a lack of employment opportunities and investment in local businesses.

James Town Arts Festival is conceived as an opportunity to highlight the creative industries as a way of inspiring local people into employment, and showcasing the talent of the creative community to those from outside James Town and also to nurture investment in the creative industry.

Director of AFC, Collins Seymah Smith in an interview with rainbowradioonline.com said, the event will surely take the city by storm as preparation are far advanced with individuals expressing interest in participating in this event.
