Jasmine of Zenith College wins Face of Tertiary 2009

Miss Jasmine Akortsu the reigning Face of Zenith College was crowned the overall queen at the just ended inter-tertiary beauty contest dubbed ‘Face of Tertiary 2009’. The pageant is meant to be a battle of brains to find a youth anti-child labour ambassador for Ghana. Jasmine beat 17 other queens from tertiary institutes across the country. For her prize, she will receive a Proton car, a monthly salary of GH¢120.00 and a ticket to represent Ghana at the finals of Miss World University Pageant to be held in Seoul, South Korea in March. She also has the task of helping to eradicate child labour in Ghana

After two rounds of competition including an introductory performance and answering of questions from judges, and a talent hunt session, the 18 were reduced to the top 8 comprising queens from University of Education Winneba, University of Ghana, Zenith College, Catholic University, Bolgatanga Polytechnic, Wisconsin University of Developmental Studies and University of Cape Coast.

Abigail Bofa, Miss University of Cape Coast was adjudged as the first runner up. Her prize include GH¢1,000 and a washing machine. The second runner up was Miss Augustina Damalie representing the University of Education, Winneba and she took away GH¢700 and a cooker. Other prizes presented on the night were Miss Talent, Miss Zenith College; Miss Eloquent, Miss Kumasi Polytechnic; and Miss Bolgatanga Polytechnic won Miss Personality.

The Accra International Conference Center finale also saw performances from Malta Guinness Street Dance Africa Champions 2 Puff, hip life & RnB sensation G2, Grey & Kochoko of Mobile Boys, Rough N Smooth, Macho Rapper, Walter D, Kazuka, and others.
