Two married women who allegedly teamed up to beat their rival to death at Kute in the Volta Region have been remanded in prison custody at Kpando.

The tragedy occurred when the suspects, Akosua Esorzuman Ayola, farmer, and Abla Babynam Aklisor, an apprentice seamstress, punched the deceased, Afla Badi, into a state of unconsciousness.

They accused the deceased of flirting with their husband, Kudzo Monami Amuzu. Akosua and Abla have been charged with two counts of conspiracy to, murder and murder while Kudzo Amuzu has been charged with compounding crime.

The court, presided over by Mr U. P. Dery, did not take their pleas and remanded them in prison custody pending advice from the Attorney-General’s office for prosecution. Akosua Esorzuman, who is a nursing mother, was however, granted bail in the sum of ?20 million to be justified.

Prosecuting, Chief inspector David Gomashie said that although the two women were married to Kudzo Amuzu, each of them lived with her parents at Keta.

He said upon a tip-off, both Akosua and Abla rushed to their husband’s room where they found Badi sleeping on his bed. They battered her to a state of unconsciousness and informed their husband of their act.

Kudzo Amuzu then fled with them to the Republic of Togo, where they were arrested with the help of the Togolese authorities.

The day after their arrest in Togo, the three suspects were extradited to Hohoe where they were incarcerated in police custody.
