Clement Kofi Ackah, a teacher reported to have butchered his girlfriend and alleged rival with a cutlass has been found unconscious in a bush after attempting to commit suicide by drinking DDT, a poisonous chemical.

He is currently on admission at the Effia Nkwanta Hospital in Takoradi, under police guard.

The Western Regional Police Commander, kofi Duku Arthur, said Ackah was found lying unconscious in the bush by a search party, hours after he had allegedly committed the act.

After committing the alleged crime Ackah went to the local Catholic Church in Half Assin where he left three letters addressed to his head teacher, Amina?s father and the local parish priest.

In the letter, he reportedly claimed that he and Amina had a blood covenant to the effect that in the event of one of them dying, the other should also die.

On realizing the severity of the wounds he had inflicted on Amina, and thinking that she would die, he decided to take his life by drinking the poison.

Amina is also on admission at the same hospital, while Innocent?s body has been released to his relatives for burial.

An orthopaedic surgeon attending to Amina has said that she was doing well.
