The remains of Ghanaian highlife legend , Jewel Ackah, will be laid to rest today, Saturday, August 4 at Axim in the Western Region.
The composer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress’ anthem who died in his Tema Community 11 home on April 27 will be laid in state at the Tema Community 11 Complex Park today followed by interment at his hometown in the Western Region.
Colleague musicians, actors and top politicians including former president, John Dramani Mahama; who was his personal friend, are expected to mourn with the family and pay their last respect to the highlife legend.
He battled with stroke and other ailments until his death at the age of 73. He left behind 11 Children.
Affectionately called the Prince of Highlife, Jewel Ackah is remembered for songs like ‘Joyce San Bra’, ‘Abena’, ‘Dear, ‘Kyer3 Mase’, ‘Manye Yie’ , ‘Asomdwe Hehe’, ‘Bodambo Bodambo’.
