Ace gospel songstress, Philipa Baafi who has over the years released gospel hit songs has said on the Gospel Countdown Show on Atinka TV that Joe Mettle’s ability to win the overall artiste of the year at the just ended VGMAs 2017 has paved the way for the gospel music fraternity.
According to her, it’s been long overdue and that people will appreciate the gospel music better. She made it clear that, the perception people have about gospel music as not attractive, appealing and all that has been erased and believes subsequently gospel artistes will pull surprises.
Amazingly, Philipa Baafi said she had never in her life as a gospel artiste with all the hit songs been awarded at the VGMAs before. She came out with her first album in 1999 which means she has been in the music industry for eighteen years now with songs like ‘Me Ye Nyhira Ba’, ‘Yesu Ye Me Last Stop’, ‘Go High’, ‘Dee Eba Wonsem Afe Yi’, ‘Me Gye Me Din’, among others. She has nine albums to her credit.
She however confessed to the host of the show, Sammy Flex that her ultimate goal as a gospel musician was not to pick awards but to put a smile on the faces of people and also feel the need to repent from their bad ways. However, she stressed the fact that if she is awarded genuinely, she would wholeheartedly embrace it. The ace gospel songstress has her latest album titled ‘Jesus Sweet Me Koolem’ which was released this year.
