World Cup and football star John Pantsil has thrown his support behind an exciting new awards ceremony celebrating UK-based Ghanaian innovators.
The inaugural Ghana UK Based Achievement (GUBA) awards pay homage to Ghanaian businesses and individuals who have excelled through hard work and diligence in Britain.
The GUBAs is the brainchild of TV presenter Dentaa, and will acknowledge and celebrate 16 top movers and shakers from the business, entertainment, sport and social action sectors.
An exclusive press launch for the event is to be held at the Ghana High Commission on Thursday the 26th of August. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 24 October at the luxurious Porchester Hall in Bayswater, London.
Ghana defender Pantsil, who plays football in the English Premier League for Fulham FC, said last week: ‘I love my country and supporting the GUBAs by being their patron goes hand in hand.’
Founder Dentaa, said: ‘There are many successful, but unrecognised African businesses operating in the UK, and during the World Cup we saw many people who were not Ghanaian supporting our national team.
‘Ghanaians are a very loving people who open their arms to all different nationalities. The inspiration for the GUBAs came from my desire to promote this culture of transnational exchange of culture and trade.’
