Joselyn Dumas Foundation supports children living with autism

Award-winning Ghanaian actress and TV personality – Joselyn Dumas – recently (September 1, 2014) celebrated her birth anniversary in a grand style with a number of children living with autism at the Autism Awareness, Care and Training Center – Kokomlemle.

The event, which was put together by the Joselyn Canfor-Dumas Foundation (JCDF), was a sight to behold as the kids were enthused to have her in their midst.

With an exceptional love for children, Miss Dumas decided to spend the day with the kids living with autism in order to put smiles on their faces. Not only did she spend some quality time with them, Miss Dumas, with support from her Joselyn Canfor-Dumas Foundation, also donated an amount of GHS 10,000 to the center.

In her submission, Miss Dumas pointed out that “children living with autism ought not to be neglected by societies they find themselves in, but rather need to be loved and appreciated for who they are.” According to her, “children living with autism have bright prospects, great talents, and can soar high if they are given the needed support by individuals, government, and the general public.”

The director of the center, Mrs. Serwaa Quaynor, used the occasion to also express her gratitude to Miss Joselyn Dumas and her foundation (Joselyn Canfor-Dumas Foundation) for enormously supporting the somehow neglected children and the center as a whole. Mrs. Quaynor therefore called on all Ghanaians to take the necessary steps in reaching out to such children just as Miss Dumas had done.

In an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb.com in relation to her foundation, Miss Dumas disclosed that the Joselyn Canfor-Dumas Foundation was set up to make educational and health support available for needy children across the country. According to her, it is the expectation of her foundation to support as many children (who face health and educational challenges) as possible.

The foundation, which is yet to be launched officially, has over the previous months embarked on similar activities to support needy children.
