Jozy Makes Her Entry

Fri, 16 Jun 2006 Source: ghanamusic.com

Every Saturday on TV3, viewers are presented with the broad smile of Josephine Adjei Tenkorang, aka Jozy of Music Music.

Jozy?s broad smile and deep voice while reading out the programme line-up or announcing the sponsors for the Music Music show can quickly be described as features of a potentially good broadcaster.

Moreover, her confidence on stage always overshadows the little mistakes she makes in her presentation which can be pardoned considering the fact that she is relatively new on set.

?I admit I make mistakes sometimes but I do not let that get to me at all. Besides, Bola Ray and Stacy often give me cover when I come into any difficulty?, Jozy told me.

Listeners to Channel R may be familiar with Jozy?s voice where she is a news reader and the presenter of the Morning Show every Tuesday.

Prior to her appearance on Music Music, she said that DJ Abio of Channel R and Ivy, also from the same station and of Moon Light fame on TV3 taught her the first lessons in radio presenting.

? I have been climbing fast and I think my persevering spirit has helped me to be a quick learner?.

Jozy, a product of Abuakwa State College in the Eastern Region, has a strong background in science from secondary school and it never occurred to her that she would work in the media.

?I did not have any dream of appearing on TV or any other medium from childhood. All I thought of was to remain a science student and possibly take up a career in that field.? She said.

However, after her secondary education, she incidentally landed a job at B.B. Media Plus, a multi media company at Tema where she was a reporter for the Ghanaian Farmer and National Culture, two newspapers published by the same company.

This was the time she developed a passion for working in the media. Her perseverance took her to Channel R as a reporter in 2004 and upon noticing her seriousness, the management of that station selected her among a few other reporters to be trained as news readers.

She was later on made the presenter of the station?s morning show which she is still handling. ? A friend hinted me about an audition being held at TV3 for presenters of Music Music.

I tried and failed for the first time but I went again and this time, Paa Kwesi, the producer was impressed and recruited me.?

She is currently preparing to pursue a course at the Ghana Institute of Journalism to add a professional touch to her broadcasting skills.
