There seems to be no end to the bickering between Abena Achiaa aka Julie Juu and the Cantata cum Obra actors/actresses as they keep hurling insults at each other every time they meet at the Cocoa Affairs Court over the controversial marriage of Julie Julie Juu to Nana Bosomprah, the late producer of cantata and Obra.
The latest drama took place yesterday, when a middle-aged woman, said to be Juu’s mother, invoked curses of the Antoa god on anybody who spoke ill of her or her daughter. According to the woman, someone from among the group called her a dirty woman, prompting her to yell out, “if you do not bath me today I swear Antoa Nyama would deal with you”.
This prompted boos and jeers from the crowd until security officers at the court waded in to enforce order. The woman walked about the court premises praying to Antoa to deal with their enemies while Maame Dokono, David Dontoh and Amankwa Ampofo, those being cited for contempt of court for allegedly arranging the burial of the late producer, tried calming the rest of the group down.
All this while, Julie Juu, who is at the centre of the altercation, kept her cool, and was later spotted being whisked into a waiting taxi. The case has been adjourned to August 31, 2010.In a related development, Julie Juu and Grace Omaboe alias Maame Dokono engaged in a heated verbal brawl about the late Nana Bosomprah, with Juu accusing Maame Dokono of being a hypocrite who did not care about the producer.
Achiaa’s female relatives also joined the fray, alleging Maame Dokono was not on talking terms with Nana till his death. Dokono did not take the insults lightly and accused Juu of being an opportunist. It took about ten minutes for the remaining Obrah and Cantata Group members including David Dontoh to calm down tempers, before things got uglier. It can be recalled that Achiaa, after the death of the producer, rushed to court to file an injunction restraining anybody from going ahead to bury him till a writ she had filed to be given the recognition of the legitimate wife of the deceased was determined.
Meanwhile, the late producer was said to have been married to a lady living in Germany with their three children for more than thirty years before he met Achiaa, who does not have any children with him. The plaintiff, Achiaa, filed an application for contempt of court against the funeral planning committee members, who are Maame Dokono, David Dontoh and Amakwa Ampofo, and the head of the Bosomprah family as well as the mortuary man at Korle-bu Teaching Hospital for burying the man while the case was still in court.
