Willie Roi and Justice Oteng at Pluzz 89.9 FM studios
Pluzz FM`s morning show Judgment Board last Tuesday was more of fireworks as senior men in the entertainment industry clashed head on over Nacee’s new release Me Wo Nyame a Me Wo Adze on Pluzz 89.9 FM.
The song which is on the Counselor 1 album was presented on the biggest music premiere platform to know its weight on the music market. But it had a sour turn when Justice Oteng had to attack Willie Roy during his submission.
In Roi’s submission, he made it clear that the music is a fantastic one and according to him, when Ernest Opoku started singing, he gathered that, Nacee’s voice is that of an inspiration from his senior Ernest Opoku and that, Ernest Opoku is the source of the voice shifting Nacee has been singing and therefore he is an original Ernest Opoku. He said he couldn’t differentiate both voices but he felt the depth of the vocals and maturity coming with age and was awed at the way the musicians have been able to maintain it like that till now.
“Nacee comes in like he is number two and Ernest being the number one. But musically everything is fine and hey I’m not saying Nacee is bad but when you trace every singer, you will find where his inspiration is coming from. For me it is a beautiful production,” and that was how Roi ended his submission.
Looking at Roi’s submission of the song, he could be pardoned for not being able to differentiate between both voices because he hadn’t listened to any of Ernest Opoku’s songs but Oteng took a whole different turn on Roi’s judgment and that sparked up flames in the studio.
Justice Oteng instead of coming in with his own analysis started attacking by asking Roi to put a stop to the voice clinic he has been doing because he doesn’t see how Roi couldn’t differentiate between the voice of Ernest and Nacee. His statement didn’t get down well with Roi who came in defense by asking Oteng which song he has ever sang in his life. This created a heated argument that caused a stir in the studio leaving the host Sammy Flex no choice than to go on a musical break.
After the musical break came back Oteng (now ready with his submission) stating that, he really recognizes both voices on the song as being a sound engineer. Any time a song steps in, he uses frequencies to check which is different from the other voice.
He noted that, Nacee has got a smooth voice other than Ernest’s husky voice which is always on a high pitch. And since Nacee does more of Fante and Ernest does Twi, he could see their difference real clear. Amidst all the heat, both pundits at the end of the review headed to the same conclusion of both Ernest Opoku and Nacee being great musicians and had brought out a good piece that inspires and uplifts any soul who gets to listen to it.
