KFC, the international fast food giants have partnered with Ghana’s number one urban youth-focused radio station Y FM to execute a youth empowerment project dubbed “So Good Music”.
The So Good Music is a branded entertainment platform designed by KFC with the aim of empowering young people through music by exposing them the business of music, giving them a platform to share their art and helping them become global brands like KFC.
Currently in its pilot phase, the So Good Music is being run in 3 African countries-Ghana, Kenya and Angola. The pilot will showcase events at selected KFC stores, pop-up experiences at select and relevant music events as well as content being distributed through various media platforms and a series of Master Classes by industry specialists.
According to Cassandra Appenteng, the KFC Brand Manager for Ghana, the vision of the So Good Music Lounge is to provide artists with a platform and at the same time, contribute as much content into the music industry as possible because they know how much their target consumers love Music. “By juxtaposing the brand legacy and heritage of KFC, we believe that we are able to create and distribute compelling content to young Africans to begin building a more sustainable entertainment industry” she noted.
Regarding the partnership, Cassandra stated that Y FM offers the ideal platform as the station has been at the fore front music and entertainment in Ghana, particularly among the young people who represent the target market for this project.
Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, the MD of Global Media Alliance Broadcast Company of which Y FM is a subsidiary, on his part, welcomed the partnership and expressed the station’s readiness to run with the project.
“As the number one urban radio station with a focus on the youth, we are continuously looking for ways to engage our listeners in meaningful ways and we believe that this partnership offers nothing less than that”.
“We are thankful to KFC for the confidence expressed in us and we would like to use this opportunity to invite all experts, upcoming music practitioners and the general public to join us this Saturday, 30th May at the Silver Lounge, Accra Mall as we discuss ways of growing our industry players into globally competitive ones by kind courtesy of KFC”, he concluded.
