The CEO of Xtra Large Music, Joshua Ralphelson aka Jah Masta Jay (JMJ) has opened up on Kaakie's exit from the label, months after the incident.

Kaakie in August announced on Instagram that she was no longer under the label but failed to give reasons behind her move, abrantepa.com recalls.

“Hi, greetings to everyone here. Am sure it has come to the notice of everyone that I have been silent for some time now. I wish to inform you all respectfully that as from today am no more a member, and an artiste with and under XLM. We have worked together for all these years and Together we gave you my dear fans good music. It has been hard for me to break the news to you but today I am, am no more an artiste under XLM. Hence XLM do not represent Kaakie anymore.. and for my fans on facebook and twitter, I wish to inform you that the pages are not handle or managed by me. If there is anything I would want u my dear fans to know, will put it up here.. in due time my new Facebook fan page will be known to you all. Thanks for your support. I really appreciate it," her post read.

Responding to what caused the breakup, JMJ said on Zylofon FM that he cannot tell because Kaakie never discussed any resentment with any member of the team.

"I was at one agency's office trying to get a deal on her behalf and a management member asked me to get into the XLM WhatsApp group. I checked and noticed that the very thing you guys saw on Instagram had been screenshot and put in the group. When she put it in there, she exited" JMJ said.

He however noted that the breakup did not come as a surprise to him.

"She hadn't complained about anything but if you're smart, you should foresee things," he said while indicating that the label kept quiet on the matter as it believed the truth would come out one day.

When host of the show, Sammy Flex asked if he contacted Kaakie to find out what triggered her move, JMJ replied in the negative.

"Where I come from, there is something called respect. If you do a thing like this, why should I be the one calling you?" He queried.

Abrantepa.com recalls an interview Kaakie granted Berla Mundi where she mentioned that she wanted a review of her contract but management was reluctant.

"I was young when I signed to JMJ's record label. I didn't even involve a lawyer then, I only invited a lawyer to read my contract after I had signed a bad deal. It was one of the stupid mistakes I ever did as a musician. Management wasn't ready for a review of my contract when I ask at some point"

"It may interest you to know I don't even own a single song I have released so far. I feel I have wasted 6 years of my music career but I'm ready for a new beginning. Not even my Facebook and Twitter accounts are mine. Last I heard, my social media pages have been deleted but, I promised my fans of my new pages by the end of this week," she said.

Kaakie was introduced to JMJ by Samini after she had taken part in Stars of the Future reality show in 2010. While under Xtra Large Music, she released hit songs such as ‘On Dem,’ ‘Herself,’ ‘Too Much,’ ‘Turn Up,’ ‘Supa Dupa,’ and ‘Sankwas.’
