Singer Kelvyn Boy has joined the #FreeTheCitizens protest on social media.

On X, the Afrobeats/Highlife star challenged the Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to use his powers to free the individuals who had been arrested, arraigned and remanded into police and prison custody to reappear in court on October 8 and 11, 2024.

Kelvyn Boy argued, given the aforementioned arrests, Dr Bawumia's party was slimming down any chance he had at winning the December 7 presidential elections.

He, also, insinuated the innocence of the individuals who had been arrested during a three-day demonstration by the Oliver Baker-Vormawor-convened Democracy Hub.

"@MBawumia, your time to make a difference is now! #FreetheCitizens," Kelvyn Boy wrote, Wednesday, September 25.

Earlier, the award-winning singer asserted: "This government is making it more and more difficult for their next candidate to win in December. Where did citizens go wrong?"

In viral videos on social media, Oliver Baker-Vormawor was captured entering a police truck, turning off the ignition and making away with the key. He was immediately confronted and arrested by police.

Other protesters obstructed traffic flow, creating roadblocks by laying on mats, and sitting on tree branches and stones they carried into the road. They instructed road users, private and commercial, to turn around and use alternative routes.

The scenes at court in other viral videos showed individuals who had been remanded after arraignment, insisting they were innocent of the charges of various forms of lawlessness brought against them.

Among them was a man who said he was returning from church when he was picked up, a woman believed to be pregnant, and bus conductors who claimed innocence.
