Kofi B goes after online music stores

Ghanaian highlife musician Kofi Boakye Yiadom, popularly known as Kofi B, has mounted a serious campaign against individuals and companies selling his artistic works on various music purchasing websites without his consent.

The 'Afia Donkor' hitmaker with over five albums to his credit in an interview with www.nydjlive.com said his management was shocked to find out almost all his albums were being sold online by unknown individuals.

“It is unfortunate we didn’t pay so much attention to the online market stores until recently. To our surprise and amazement, we realized most of my albums and works were being sold on Amazon, iTunes and many other platforms by unknown individuals."

Asked if he still had rights to some of these albums, especially since he dealt with music producers who took charge of all his music sales, Kofi B answered in the affirmative, saying he had all the rights.

“I mean how can people be so ridiculous? These are albums I have rights to and can do what I want with it. The sad aspect is that these albums are not even being sold by any of my former executive producers.”

As a way of curbing the situation, Kofi B said his management has started an appeal process and forwarded emails to some of the music stores to freeze some of the accounts so the right thing is done.

Some of his popular songs include ‘Twa Me Keke’, ‘Mmobrowa’, ‘Aserewa’, ‘Koforidua Flower’s, ‘Sika Dwa’, ‘Belinda’, ‘Akua Ataa’, ‘Yaw Dompreh’, among others.

His latest album is 'Si Ejisu', which has tracks such as 'Nyame Betua Wo Ka', 'Who the cup fit' and 'Wose Shirt'.
