Entertainment pundits and analysts have given interesting facts and opinions about the music industry “limping” comment by legendary highlife artiste Kojo Antwi.
Speaking on “Showbiz Agenda” on Zylofon FM 102.1 with Samuel Atuobi Baah known as Sammy Flex, highlife artiste and member of the creative arts for change Dada Hafco pointed out that the industry players should have a deliberate agenda and attempt to push their work to the world market.
According to him, there should be a specific genre or phase of music the Ghanaian industry wishes to be recognized with in order to push it to the world.
“We Should not just sit down for them to always come for features but we should also go to them for features to also put our work out there. Nigerians have deliberately pushed the afrobeats genre out there so we should also have a deliberate agenda to push our highlife” he narrated.
Host of the Vibes In 5 on social media and link up reloaded on Zylofon FM Arnold Mensah Elavanyo who was also a pundit on the show stated that Ghanaian artistes who have gotten to the world market with different genres should be pushed so that they could recommend the highlife genre to the world.
“Shatta Wale and Guilty Beats should not be ignored but we should push them. These people got there with different genres but they could recommend and endorse our highlife artistes and genre to the world market. Chief Charles also further stressed out that artistes who have gotten to the world market should be encouraged to add a little bit of the Ghanaian music genre in their works in order to sell it out.
“Sammy, the industry is limping and it has been so for a long time. Kwame Nkrumah wanted to get us an industry but it was over thrown during his over throw. For me, I think Shatta Wale and Guilty Beats should be encouraged to always add a little highlife to their works in order to sell it and get it recognized” Chief Charles concluded.
