For the first time since he begun his music concerts well over a decade ago, Kojo Antwi a.k.a Mr Music Man has put up one of his captivating live performances in Tamale last week Friday.
According to the organisers, the show was meant to promote peace in Dagbon by bringing the people together.
The gig which many revellers described as “a killer show” was hosted at the Wardens Canteen.
Local artistes like Umar Jander, a reggae musician in the region warmed up the stage before Mr Music Man and his wonderful team arrived.
Other artistes who mounted the stage were Ekow Shailo, Pretty Face and Papa Flavour both hiplifers. DJ Flex a.k.a. Blackstone entertained patrons with some jokes which sent them laughing heartily.
Until Mr Music Man performed, the audience were reluctant to put on their dancing shoes inspite of the numerous call by some of the artistes who performed earlier.
And as expected, the audience went into a frenzy when he appeared. His first song was enough to bring patrons to their feet. Kojo treated his fans to a large repertoire of songs which lasted for about three hours. Patrons danced till the wee hours of the morning.
During the show Mr Music Man performed Domiwu, one of his yet to be released songs. Others songs he performed included Baa Sumo Mi, Densu and Odo Me do Wo Nti which he did with Nana Yaa who really thrilled the audience with her melodious voice.
Some members of the audience who could not control their feelings shouted at the top of their voices and declared that “Ah Kojo you will kill us oo” and “Kojo you are good.” Indeed, the enthusiasm displayed by Kojo’s fans was deafening and could possibly break down walls.
As a way of further entertaining his fans, Kojo introduced what he termed “the Wele dancing” in which he promised to give his sunglasses to any lady who could wriggle her waist skilfully to the rhythm of the music.
Apparently, most of the ladies who attended the show were draped in apparels that perhaps enabled them to really do the “wele” dance expertly.
Suffice it to say that the whole performance particularly the smooth transition from one song to the other revolved around the electric pianist, Kwame Yeboah.
He was indeed a delight to watch as he displayed sharp skills on the piano compelling some patrons to ‘shower’ him with money.
Although many people perceived the patronage as not very encouraging, those who had the opportunity of witnessing the show were very enthusiastic and wished similar shows would be organised in the metropolis from time to time.
