Former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings is putting in a lot of work to start her music and dance school, in fulfillment of a long-held dream.

On the sidelines of the Okyeame Kwame Versatile Show held at the National Theatre over the weekend, Mrs. Rawlings told reporters she’s been toying with the idea of setting up a music and dance school for years, adding that she feels inspired to implement it, in the coming months.

“I am crazy about music and I even want to start music and dance school,” she said. “I’ve being planning this since I was like thirty years… It’s been my dream and I still think I should manifest it…” she adds.

Her announcement doesn’t come as a surprise to most industry players, given her public display of love for the arts. A constant face at major arts and entertainment-related events held in the Capital over the past year, Mrs. Rawlings is convinced the time to give Ghana’s arts and entertainment industry the needed push and face lift, is now.

Her taking up this initiative, is laudable and must be commended. If fulfilled, it will be a positive development for Ghana’s growing creative arts.
