The Agility of President J.A. Kufuor was put to test last Saturday when he held his balance and sprung with the speed of a jaguar as the dais on which he was sealed suddenly caved in at a function in the Central Region. The President, who was at Agona-Asafo to celebrate the annual Akwanbo Festival with the Chiefs and people of the area after gracing the 12th Congregation of the University of Education, Winneba, escaped unhurt.

After the incident, which occurred soon after the President, the Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur and other state officials took their seats, compelled the dignitaries to relocate.

Addressing the gathering after the unpredicted episode, President Kufuor charged contractors to execute projects awarded them by the government to the satisfaction of Ghanaians and to ensure the citizenry got value for money.
