General Secretary for the Film Producers Association of Ghana, Zachariah Abdulai says Kumawood movie industry does not need any spiritual help.
Abdulai, making this assertion in an interview with Sammy Flex on Showbiz Agenda, said the industry is not in agreement with Samuel Nyamekye and two other actors, seeking spiritual intervention on behalf of the association, regarding the seemingly failing market for Kumawood movies.
“It was wrong of Sam Nyamekye to ask for deliverance or spiritual help for the industry. We acknowledge that Kumawood is lacking in one way or the other, but to say we need deliverance, that is just uncalled for”, he said.
CEO of Miracle Films, Samuel Nyamekye and two other colleagues, paid a visit to Bishop Obinim, leader of International God’s Way Church pleading for his intervention in the Kumawood industry, as it has become less lucrative compared to the past.
However, Abdulai says Nyamekye has not been given the mandate to act as the spokesperson for the Movie Makers Association, and hence can not act in that capacity.
He further lamented, technology and globalization has taken a toll on patronage of Kumawood movies, but the actors guild, as well as all stakeholders are putting in measures to building and sustaining the industry.
