Kumawood producers have changed - Maame Dokono

Maame Dokono who has constantly complained about filmmakers neglecting veteran actors has applauded Kumawood producers for hearing her cry.

Maame Dokono, who had become a household name once rebuked moviemakers for painting the faces of young actors to play elderly roles in movies leaving the actors who have had long experience in the industry jobless.

“In Nigeria, old men and women are given roles as old people but in Ghana we have young people playing such roles. We are all around and we don’t charge too much so they can come for our assistance,” she told UTV’s entertainment news programme in March 2015.

Grace Omaboe in a recent interview with KMJ on Hitz FM in Accra hailed Kumawood producers for employing the services of some veteran actors after their plea.

According to her, Kumawood movie producers have changed.

“For sometime now, some of the Kumasi film producers have started using us. I was on set two weeks ago in Sunyani.”
