Kwabena Kwabena’s ‘Save a Life’ Foundation has teamed up with ‘Save a Child’s Heart’, an Israeli charity organisation to raise funds to support children who need heart surgery.

The Jazz Festival dubbed ‘Heart to Heart Concert’, a charity concert by the Embassy of Israel, aimed at raising funds to support children who need heart surgery. Israeli saxophonist, Guy Dvir will perform alongside Highlife sensation, Kwabena Kwabena, Yaw Dela Botri and Hewale Sounds, Adomaa, and Abajo.

Speaking at the launch of Live in Accra Jazz and Highlife Festival, the Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Ami Mehl said, “I’m excited about the Jazz festival, and particularly because of the Heart to Heart Concert happening on the April 29.

“We are not just putting together a concert. It’s a concert to raise funds for children who need heart surgery but cannot afford. I’m proud that Save a child’s heart, an Israeli charity organisation is teaming up with Kwabena Kwabena’s ‘Save a Life’ foundation to make this possible,” Israeli Ambassador noted. Kwabena Kwabena on his part promised the audience a great concert and urged patrons to turn up in their numbers to support.

“The partnership with the esteemed Save A Child’s Heart is good course as these children now stand a chance of fulfilling their destinies on this earth. I would like to take this opportunity to show my appreciation to the Israeli Embassy, Save a Child’s Heart Organisation and everyone for this wonderful collaboration; and on behalf of everyone at Save A Life Foundation, I say to you, Akwaaba, welcome to the family.”

The Save A Life foundation exists primarily to help alleviate the growing pressure on the National Cardiothoracic Center, Korle Bu. With only one institution in Ghana equipped to cater for all cases of cardiovascular defects, the challenge then grew to the dire level that the general public were urged to support the centre financially, and many individuals and corporate bodies took up the task and supported in their own ways.

Since its inception, the foundation has successfully catered for over 20 cases of children heart diseases and all these children are alive and well today.

The Kwabena Kwabena save a life Foundation was established in 2013; in collaboration with the National Cardiothoracic Centre, Korle Bu; by myself under the umbrella of KbKb Musik.

The function of the foundation has been such that, $8,000 is raised to cater for the cost of a single surgery. Patients are chosen by the medical experts at the centre. The target has always been children, as such, the doctors choose the most urgent of children’s cases.

The fourth edition of the Live in Accra Jazz Festival was launched at the Alliance Française d’Accra. The event was attended by stakeholders and artistes who are billed to perform during the festival.

Officials of Alliance Francaise say that this year’s #LiveinAccra Jazz Festival will showcase artistes from South Africa, Ivory Coast, Belgium, and Ghana. The Launch was accompanied by an art exhibition by Yaw Safori, who promised to donate three of his original works to support the children. Other individuals have already given their donation. The event ended with musical performances from Eli, a young Ghanaian singer.
