It is arguably the biggest night on Ghana’s entertainment calendar as thousands always throng venue of the event while others stay glued to their television sets to witness presentation of awards to musicians amidst performances.

The 19th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards comes off at the Accra International Conference Centre tonight and we bring you a comprehensive text coverage of the event.

Organized by Charterhouse in partnership with the Musicians the Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and under the auspices of and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, this year’s is themed ‘Music Beyond Borders’.

Aside rewarding acts for their works within the calendar year of the scheme, some veteran musicians are expected to be honored for their contributions to Ghana’s music industry.

There are high expectations ahead of the event as regards what celebrities will wear, production, performances as well as winners for various categories, especially the ultimate Artiste of the Year.

While gospel musician, Joe Mettle looks forward to defending the title, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale hope to win to become the first dancehall act to have won the category twice. A win for Sarkodie will be the third time having won in 2010 and 2012 while Ebony would make history as the first female artiste to be crowned Artiste of the Year should she win.

The VGMA Red Carpet segment will be hosted by Radio/TV personalities, Johnnie Beresford Hughes and AJ Sarpong. Actor, John Dumelo and broadcaster, Berla Mundi are the hosts for the main event.
