LOC shortlists 84 for poems and songs competition

Accra, Oct 24, GNA - The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of Ghana CAN 2008 has short-listed 84 contestants of the poems and songs event towards the next stage of the competition.

The contest is aimed at selecting the best song and poem for the biannual tournament that spans three weeks.

Information gathered by the GNA Sports revealed that in all, 34 contestants were selected in the song category after their works were adjudged to have met the set standard.

The songs that include hiplife, highlife and reggae were selected out of 833 submissions made.

Even though over 6207 contestants submitted works in the poems competition, only 50 of them met the set criteria. Names of the successful candidates will be published on the Thursday, October 26 edition of the Daily Graphic for a scheduled meeting at the secretariat of the LOC on Saturday, October 28th. 24 Oct. 06
