The recent influx of telenovelas on our screens has been the concern of many.

Many movie industry players including Yvonne Okoro, Eddie Nartey and others have vehemently opposed it.

Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has also added his two cents, stating that, telenovelas will even make them run out of business. Kumawood actress Christiana Awuni also complained about how these telenovelas have made people lose interest in the movies they are producing.

One person who has put the blame on authorities like the NCA, Actors guild, etc; is Ghanaian actor and movie maker James Cleg.

Speaking exclusively on the HOTGIST hosted by Princepatt Makafui Amedume on Spyderlee Entertainment TV on Tuesday morning, James emphatically stated that the above mentioned authorities are not doing their work well and are ‘sleeping’.

According to James, the authorities should step up their game; do a lot of monitoring and evaluations instead of allowing people to just put any content on our screens. He further added that government should give 70% coverage to local content and 30% to foreign content, that, he said will be easier for them to monitor all the activities.

He finally added that investors should also come on board to help make the movie industry lucrative and attractive so that it can rub shoulders with foreign content.

James Cleg is a Ghanaian actor and a producer. He has starred in a lot of movies with the likes of Fred Amugi, David Dontoh, Emmanuel Armah among others.
