Cholera Outbreak Claims Three Lives In Accra

Accra, Ghana (PANA) - An outbreak of cholera has been reported in Accra with three deaths and 49 people on admission at the Korle-Bu polyclinic.

Fred Dugbazah, public relations officer of the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital, said 52 cases had been reported at the Korle Bu Polyclinic since Saturday.

Three patients have since died while the rest are receiving treatment.

Dugbazah said the clinic has been recording 16 cases on average each day since Saturday. The patients are mostly adults.

The patients, lying on benches on verandas and corridors, and officials of the polyclinic said there is no ward for cholera patients who need to be isolated.
