Legendary Ghanaian actor, Ebenezer Lartey popularly known as Ataa Mensah has died at the age of 91 on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.
Confirming the sad news to HotfmOnlinegh.com, the wife of the late actor, Ashie Lartey indicated that:
“My husband was admitted at the Ridge Hospital in December after complaining of chest pain. He died yesterday at the Ridge Hospital. The family is yet to decide on when to bury him”, She said.
Late Ata Mensah was born on January 12, 1928, in Accra. He started his acting career in 1965 and started appearing on TV in 1970.
During the Saka Acquaye’s era, all the dramas and films were then in English so the late Atta Mensah decided to change the phase of the industry by acting in Ga.
He played the lead character in the popular Showcase in Ga drama troupe. Most of the scripts of the numerous dramas on GBC and some films were written by him.
HotfmOnlinegh.com is reliably informed that, the legendary late actor who was living in a chamber and hall at Adabraka in Accra with his wife, before his demise had appealed to the government and GBC to honor him with awards and an estate before he dies. But his wish was not fulfilled and suddenly died a pauper.
