Slim Buster is a veteran Ghanaian musician and dancer
Over the past few weeks, veteran Ghanaian musician and dancer Slim Buster has criticised some of his colleagues in the creative industry over their talent, contributions and support for the development of the entertainment sector.
Through media interviews and social media posts, the musician, known for his dance moves and hit songs, has made several remarks about prominent figures, including dancehall musician Shatta Wale, hiplife pioneer Reggie Rockstone and dancer Dancegod Lloyd.
Among his recent comments, Slim Buster has questioned the talent of some musicians, criticised what he considers a lack of support for the industry and taken issue with repetitive dance routines.
From questioning the abilities of fellow entertainers to expressing concerns about the industry’s direction, here are some of Slim Buster’s recent criticisms of his colleagues.
Slim Buster’s ‘attack’ on Shatta Wale
Slim Buster, in a recent interview on Adom TV’s ShowTym, criticised dancehall musician Shatta Wale over his talent, wealth and relevance in Ghana’s music industry.
The veteran musician claimed that Shatta Wale is not more talented than him, Samini, or Stonebwoy, arguing that the dancehall musician’s success and relevance stem largely from his outspoken nature and involvement in public controversies rather than superior musical talent.
Slim Buster also claimed that he is more hard-working and handsome than Shatta Wale.
During a TikTok live session, he further stressed his seniority, saying, “Shatta Wale’s mother hadn’t even given birth to him” when he started his music career.
His comments angered Shatta Movement (SM) fans, some of whom accused him of trying to revive his career by attacking the dancehall musician.
Shatta Wale later responded by expressing respect for Slim Buster as a senior musician, stating, “Slim Buster, please, you know very well that I would never disrespect you.”
However, he warned Slim Buster against attacking his brand and advised him to understand internet culture, noting that “not every comment deserves a reaction.”

Slim Buster’s criticism of Reggie Rockstone
Slim Buster, in recent public comments, criticised veteran musician Reggie Rockstone over his contributions to the Ghanaian music industry and his alleged unwillingness to collaborate with fellow artistes.
The veteran musician and dancer accused Reggie of doing little to support the growth of the industry, questioning his contributions despite his status as a pioneer of Hiplife.
Slim Buster also expressed frustration over his inability to sit down with Reggie to discuss music, despite knowing him for years. He suggested that Reggie had been avoiding him and refusing to collaborate.
However, Reggie strongly rejected the claims, pointing to his legacy as the pioneer of Hiplife and reminding Slim Buster that he had also benefited from the genre with his hit song “Masherita.”
Reggie further stated that he did not recall receiving any call or collaboration request from Slim Buster, adding that musical collaborations depend on creative chemistry.
He said, "Your music might be nice, but an artiste will not have the vibe or crave for it. And that's okay".
Expressing disappointment over the public criticism, Reggie urged his colleague to keep such matters private, declaring, "OGs do not beef".

Slim Buster calls out Dancegod Lloyd over repetitive dance moves
Popular dancer and choreographer Dancegod Lloyd was also at the receiving end of veteran musician Slim Buster’s criticism over his dance moves and creativity.
Slim Buster argued that professional dancers in Ghana have a limited career lifespan unless they venture into other areas, such as music.
He singled out Dancegod Lloyd, acknowledging his talent but accusing him of repeating the same dance moves.
Slim Buster urged young dancers to “think outside the box” to remain relevant and avoid running out of creative ideas.
In response, Dancegod Lloyd expressed disappointment over the public criticism, explaining that some dance moves are inspired by song lyrics.
He also disclosed that Slim Buster had previously approached him to dance to his music, but he directed the veteran to follow the proper business protocols.
Slim Buster later claimed that his criticism had worked, saying he had noticed changes in Dancegod Lloyd’s approach and variety in his choreography now.
