Ghanaian actress and movie producer, Yvonne Nelson, has frowned on the constant efforts by some Ghanaians to discredit the good works of Shatta Wale at every given opportunity.

She took to twitter to voice her sentiments about criticisms against the dancehall artiste despite his feats in the music industry, particularly, his contribution to American icon, Beyonce’s latest ‘Lion King’ album which has been nominated at the Grammy awards.

The post sighted by www.ghanaweb.com on Twitter read, “the hate in this industry, Shatta Wale has put Gh on the map!!! Ya all should be happy for him. I can’t believe even radio discussions are trying to discredit him, what at all should one do?? Ghana is proud of you Shatta! Congrats."

Since Beyoncé’s “The Lion King” album earned nomination in the Best Pop Vocal Album category for this year’s Grammys, there has been a controversy over whether or not Shatta Wale is also a nominee considering the fact that he had a collaboration with Beyonce on the said album.

According to blogger Ebenezer Nana Yaw Donkor (NYDJ) who also doubles as a radio presenter at YFM, he personally sent an email to the organisers for clarification on the Shatta Wale Grammys brouhaha and a reply was sent to him to that effect.

“According to a mail received from the Grammy Awards, only Artistes who have worked on over 51% playing time of the pop vocal album would be nominees. Any featured artiste with less than 51% would not be a nominee. That settles it. Shatta Wale is not a Grammy Nominee," NYDJ's post read.

Meanwhile, UK-based Ghanaian recording artiste, Fuse ODG expressed his disappointment in blogger Ameyaw Debrah and radio presenter MzGee for attempting to discredit Shatta Wale and also failing to support the artiste from Ghana.

Speaking on 3FM, he said: “I am very disappointed, evidently you have exposed yourself and I understand now... Any song writer on an album automatically becomes a winner as well…once you are part of a project that wins in a Grammy, you are automatically a Grammy winner as well."
