Ghanaian musician, Hajia Police, born Sa-adatu Mustapha Mohammed, has said Ghana needs to tackle the galamsey menace with preaching and citizenship education.
According to the Police Officer and songwriter, the security services are doing their best to curtail the galamsey canker but brutal force alone can’t resolve the issue amicably.
“In fact, the galamsey issue is very serious and pathetic. But we in the security services, we will continue to play our role and at least we are trying our best to resolve the matter.
“But when I observe the galamsey phenomenon critically unless probably we engage in something like preaching or citizenship education,” she said in an interview with Amansan Krakye.
“We need to preach to change the minds of people instead of using too much force to stop the people because those into galamsey are after money so all drastic efforts might not curtail them.
“But at least if we involve the use of preaching the word of God to them and it touches their hearts gradually they’ll have a change of mind about galamsey,” she added.
