'Let's not follow stupid comments like this' - Vida Adutwumwaa berates Efia Odo over 'old man' comment

Entertainment pundit Vida Adutwumwaa has taken a swipe at social media personality Efia Odo over the comments she made about the TGMA Artiste of the Year award.
It could be recalled that on the eve of the TGMA awards on June 1, 2024, Efia Odo, in a post on X, said that an unnamed artiste she referred to as an ‘old man’ should leave the award for younger artistes like King Promise to gain due to the numbers they have.
Her comment, however, did not sit down well with many on social media.
In a post on Facebook on June 5, 2024, Vida Adutwumwa clapped back at Efia Odo over her comments which she described as ‘stupid’.
According to her, such comments could affect the career of these young artistes and force them to retire early.
She argued that the music industry rather values hard work and experience of creatives over their age and the numbers they put up.
“Efia Odo, you said someone is an old man, so he should sit down for younger artistes to take the award.
“This music business, it’s not about your age or how energetic you are. Showbiz is about your hard work, the more you grow in it, the more experience you get, it comes with a lot of finesse, you improve your craft, and your overall output.
“Let's not follow stupid comments like this to retire our artistes prematurely. King promise is a fine artiste, and we would love to see him bringing out bangers in the next 10 to 15 years. Whatever you do comes with a lot of goodwill,” she said.
The TGMAs
The 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), which unfolded at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre was a night of celebration and recognition for the talent in the Ghanaian music scene.
The competition was fierce, but Stonebwoy stood out as the evening's top gainer, taking home a total of six awards including the prestigious Artiste of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Best International Collaboration, and Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year awards.
King Promise, another top contender, despite not clinching the Artiste of the Year title, was honoured with three awards including the Afropop Song of the Year, Afrobeat/Afropop Artiste of the Year, and Most Popular Song of the Year.
